JOB DESCRIPTION
Adapted primary school is for children aged 7 to 16 who have an intellectual disability.
In the adapted primary school, the education is tailored to each student's conditions and needs.
Students in the adapted primary school are offered after-school care in the same way as students in regular primary schools. Part of the job also involves working in the after-school program, where you help create a stimulating and fun environment after school hours. Here, you will have the opportunity to contribute with creative and meaningful activities that strengthen children's social development.
Are you looking for a varied job that involves being the safe adult in our students' school day? Then you are the one we are looking for!
Job duties - As a teaching assistant, you have a varied and meaningful role where no day is the same. The tasks can vary from providing educational support in the classroom, being a social support during breaks and activities, to providing practical help in everyday situations. In some cases, the work may involve supporting students with care needs or students who may exhibit challenging behaviors. Many of the students use alternative communication methods such as signs and visual aids. This variation allows you to contribute to the students' development in several different ways.
You will be present throughout the school day in the classroom, during breaks, during transitions, and in other contexts where your presence makes a difference. The position also includes work in the after-school program - before and after school as well as during school holidays.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone who is a trained teaching assistant or has experience that the employer deems equivalent. Experience with TAKK is an advantage.
Great emphasis will be placed on personality. Interviews are conducted on an ongoing basis.
As a person, you find it easy to create security and good relationships with both students and colleagues, and you are used to working independently as well as in a team. You are flexible and can quickly switch between different tasks, for example, from providing support to an individual student with special needs to leading an activity for an entire student group. You are attentive to the students' daily form and needs, and can adjust your approach accordingly. Your communication skills enable you to clearly explain tasks, calm in stressful situations, and collaborate effectively with both colleagues and guardians.
The work can sometimes be both physically and mentally demanding, and it is important that you have the ability to remain calm, create structure, and build trusting relationships. At the same time, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the students' everyday lives, a role that both challenges and rewards you. With us, you will become an important part of creating an inclusive and inspiring school environment where every student has the opportunity to develop as far as possible.
